Local Business Growth, Local Talent Development

December 20, 2023

Growing a business in a healthy organic fashion allows for your talent acquired in previous years to be engaged in the talent identification and training today.  If you grow too fast, your talent development might be compromised.  If you grow too slow, your talent will be overworked and stressed.

At the Mosquito Squad of Lexington, we have definitely experienced growth that is fast and growth that is slow.  We have adjusted appropriately and frequently.  We are really thankful that our customers have allowed us to expand our production hours when our workers were few or our resources were spread thin.

This year, we have been able to more than double our workforce and that is exciting, but we are even more excited about what we have learned during the growth of the company.  In the past, we have outsourced pieces of our business, but we are seeing better quality as we pull those pieces back to the local people that are aligned with our goals and familiar with our customers.

Over the past few years, we have struggled to find a way to make payroll like any local small business, but because the demand for our services increased while more people were forced to work from home in 2020, we felt like we should grow without depending on any of the small business stimulus loans intended for the restaurants and travel industry most impacted by the pandemic.  We chose to grow our business slowly, improve the quality standards that we set in the past, protect our employees, and trust that we would be able to keep up with customer demand.

We are so thankful for the feedback from our customers and grateful for the opportunity to serve them in difficult circumstances.
