At Mosquito Squad of Southeastern Massachusetts, we want you to know it is NEVER too late to take back your yard. While every mosquito treatment furthers the mosquito control from the one before, each mosquito control barrier treatment stands strong on its own.

So, whether you signed up for a full season of treatments before the snow melted or are just starting now, there are weeks left of summer still to enjoy without mosquitoes.

West Nile Virus Season is Time for Mosquito Protection

mosquito Shortly after the 4th of July holiday, a mosquito in Massachusetts tested positive for West Nile virus for the first time this year. The positive sample was collected in Boston. Once the mosquitoes come back positive for WNV, human risk increases and will continue to increase through the month of August.

West Nile virus (WNV) is harmless for most, but for a small portion of those who get WNV, there is a risk for encephalitis or meningitis. Read all the symptoms of West Nile virus so you can be aware and see a doctor at the first signs of infection.

To keep a close eye on the spread of West Nile virus and Eastern Equine Encephalitis by mosquitoes, check the Department of Health and Human Services’ arbovirus page regularly.
