Mosquito, Tick & Pest Control in Sharonville, OH

Ask most people about flooding in Sharonville and they'll point at the Mill Creek. The city's own numbers point closer to home. According to the city's floodplain page, at least one in five properties sits inside the FEMA 100-year floodplain, and drainage problems are a common complaint at city hall. That's a lot of backyards where rainwater has somewhere to sit.

We've been treating Sharonville-area yards since 2013, and one Sharonville household has been on our books since 2021.

Why Sharonville Pest Pressure Looks Different

Sharonville's water doesn't come from one place. The Mill Creek cuts through the city, and there's a web of smaller tributaries feeding it. One of them ran through an undersized culvert under Main Street. When ODOT planned to replace that culvert, the city had a flood study done first and learned a bigger pipe wouldn't fix much. The answer, according to WVXU's 2024 report, was a deeper open channel and a realigned Main Street, plus work on a retention dam upstream, for about $3.7 million. The goal was to get downtown out of the 100-year floodplain.

Plenty of yards outside downtown still sit low near a creek, or have a soggy back corner that holds water after a storm. Purdue entomologists note that floodwater mosquitoes lay eggs in ground that's held water before, like soil depressions and wheel ruts, and the adults show up several days to a week after the next storm covers them. If that water stands longer, the disease-carrying Culex species can move into the same puddle.

The other water in town is Sharon Lake, up in Sharon Woods. Great Parks drained it in April 2024 and reopened it this March, using the old sediment to build new wetlands. The lake feeds Sharon Creek, which runs down to the Mill Creek at Evendale. The fish are still repopulating, but if something bites you on the patio tonight, check your own low spots before you blame the park.

Mosquito Barrier Treatment in Sharonville

Mosquito Barrier Treatment starts at $87 per treatment. After the first visit, we're back every 21 days until the season winds down. Lots on our Sharonville routes often run about a quarter acre, so there's time to cover the whole yard: shrub beds against the house, fence lines, the shade under a deck, and that wet corner that never quite dries.

Every first visit includes a standing-water check that follows our 7 T's of Mosquito Control. If part of the yard's in the floodplain, show us where the water collects. That spot gets extra attention from then on. Not sure where it pools? Walk the yard the morning after a hard rain and look for the patches that are still shiny.

Natural Treatment Option

Some Sharonville families would rather skip conventional products, especially with a garden out back or dogs in the yard all day. Our natural treatment option relies on botanical oils and kills the mosquitoes and ticks it touches. It won't last as long as our standard barrier, so visits get booked closer together.

Tick Control Near Sharon Woods

Sharon Woods opened in 1932 as the county's first park, and Sharonville neighborhoods sit right up against it. Great Parks keeps deer numbers down with a controlled bow hunting program, but as its natural resources manager has noted, deer cross property lines anyway. Where they wander, ticks drop off.

One of our longest-running Sharonville customers, on the park side of town, signed up for mosquito and tick treatment together in 2021 and hasn't let it lapse. Tick control can ride along on mosquito visits as an add-on, or come built in with Home Shield or Complete Home & Yard. We work the brushy edges the way our 6 C's of Tick Control lay out, and we stop at your lot line even when the woods don't.

A Locked Gate Means Half a Treatment

If you've got a fenced yard and a dog, this one's for you. On one Sharonville visit this summer, our tech texted the homeowner half an hour ahead and still found a padlock on the back gate. Only the front yard got treated that day.

The back is usually where the shade and the wet ground are. If your gate locks, leave it open on service day or tell us how to get in. We'll text before we pull up. That's your cue to get the dogs inside.

Homes and Home Daycares

We treat single-family homes and home daycares all over Sharonville, along with some small businesses. If kids are in the yard during the day, ask about after-hours scheduling. The treatment's dry long before they're back the next morning.

If ants are part of the problem, say so up front. Our blog explains how Cincinnati ants get inside, and it's usually by way of the mulch. If they show up between visits, tell us. That's what our satisfaction guarantee is for.

Year-Round Coverage

Home Shield is $99 a month. It pairs the mosquito barrier with year-round treatment of the house for ants, roaches, spiders and ticks. For mice, step up to Complete Home & Yard at $119 a month, which brings in rodent control and takes care of yard fleas and chiggers too.

There's one more reason floodplain lots should think about mice. MU Extension notes that flooding pushes rodents out of their usual cover and toward homes and sheds. If the creek came up near you this year, don't wait for the first cold snap to deal with the gaps around pipes and vents.

When Sharonville Yards Should Start

Start around mid-April, once afternoons are reaching the mid-60s most days. After that, the rain sets the schedule. When the Mill Creek rises or your own back corner floods, the next wave of mosquitoes tends to arrive about a week later, the same week-after-a-storm pattern we see across the region. You'll want a visit to fall in that window. The season usually runs into October, and longer when fall stays warm.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know if my Sharonville yard is in the floodplain?

Look up your address on FEMA's flood map search, or ask the city. Sharonville says at least one in five properties sits in the 100-year floodplain. If yours does, or your yard simply holds water after storms, let us know so those areas get extra attention on every visit.

Why do mosquitoes get worse about a week after a big storm?

Floodwater mosquitoes lay eggs on ground that's held water before, and the eggs wait there. When heavy rain covers them again, they hatch, and adults emerge several days to a week later. That's why a low corner that floods in a storm can send out a fresh wave of biters the following week.

Is Sharon Lake causing the mosquitoes in my yard?

Probably not most of them. Great Parks reopened the lake in March 2026 with new wetlands, and the fish are still coming back. In our experience, most bites in Sharonville yards trace back to water closer to the house, like low spots, clogged gutters, and floodplain ground that stays wet after storms.

Do you treat home daycares in Sharonville?

Yes. We treat homes and home daycares across Sharonville. For a daycare, ask about after-hours scheduling so visits happen after the children have gone home and treated areas are dry before anyone's back outside. Home Shield and Complete Home & Yard also cover ants around the house.

Is the treatment safe around children and dogs?

Yes, once it's dry, which usually takes 30 to 45 minutes. Our technicians are licensed, and the EPA-registered products go on shrubs and the shady places mosquitoes hide during the day, so the open lawn isn't the target. Keep children and dogs indoors until everything has dried. Want a plant-based product instead? Just ask.

What does pest control in Sharonville cost?

Mosquito Barrier Treatment starts at $87 per treatment, with visits every 21 days through the season. Home Shield is $99 a month and adds year-round treatment of the house. Complete Home & Yard is $119 a month and is the plan that includes rodent control. Estimates are free, and we'll price yours after a look at the lot.
