If you want to stop ants from getting into your kitchen, you can do this by sealing entry points and eliminating food and water sources. It also helps to disrupt the scent trails ants use to navigate.

Older homes do tend to attract carpenter ants more readily, though age by itself isn't the cause. Carpenter ants nest in damp, softened wood, and older Princeton colonials are more likely to have the moisture issues and aging framing that create it, especially with mature trees shading the roof. 

At dusk, temperatures go down, humidity rises, and winds calm. That means the three things that keep mosquitoes from annoying you during the daytime subside.

Mosquitoes aren't strongly attracted to light itself the way moths are. But outdoor lights draw other insects that create activity around the light, and the heat and CO2 from nearby people are what pull mosquitoes to lit gathering areas.

Professional barrier treatments do both. They kill mosquitoes on contact during the initial application and leave a residual layer on vegetation that continues to control mosquitoes for about 21 days. 

Mosquitoes are attracted to specific cues that vary from person to person. Some of these cues include how much carbon dioxide you exhale, your body heat, skin bacteria, and even your blood type.

Most mosquitoes are at their most active at dawn and dusk, when cooler air and higher humidity let them move and feed without drying out. The big exception is the Asian tiger mosquito, common in New Jersey, which bites right through the middle of the day. 

Wasp populations build gradually from spring through midsummer. Then, they peak in late August and September when colonies reach maximum size.
