F.A.Q.

How do I need to prepare for my mosquito control treatment?

You do not need to do very much prep, but a few small steps can help. Clear loose items off the lawn so the technician can reach your foliage, unlock any gates, bring pets indoors, and flag any specific spots you want addressed.

After you book your first pest control treatment, you might wonder: “do I need to do anything?” For the most part, you won’t. The treatment is meant to be hands-off, with the technician doing most of the work. But there are still a few things you can do to make the process go along smoothly.

It helps to clear the yard first. Pick up toys, lawn games, pet bowls, and anything sitting on the grass or under shrubs. The treatment targets the foliage and resting areas, so the more reachable those surfaces are, the better your protection from pests.

Then make sure access is squared away. If your property has a locked gate or a fenced section, leave it open or share the code, especially since many East End properties screen the yard with tall hedges and gates. The technician can’t treat your backyard if they can’t get to it!

As for pets and people, the rule is simple. Keep them inside when the treatment is being applied and while the treatment is drying. Once the treatment dries, usually around 30 minutes to an hour, you can go about your life like normal. The yard is OK to use again.

As for pools and gardens, you should know technicians are already trained to avoid them. They’re not eager to mist down a pool or open blooms. But it still never hurts to point them out. You can say “don’t spray my vegetables, don’t spray my koi pond,” and feel a little better knowing that you’ve at least made them aware.

If you're tired of summer evenings cut short by mosquitoes, Mosquito Squad of the Hamptons can help. Mosquito Squad can send a trained technician to treat the resting and breeding zones across your property, helping protect your yard with up to 90% reduction in mosquito activity on a 21-day cycle.
