Finding a flea treatment for your pet can be difficult. Do you get a topical treatment? Do you get a medicated shampoo? Or will a yard spray suffice? We want to help you find the best protection for your pet because we know how important they are to you and your family.

So What Is the Difference Between Flea Treatments?

Topical Treatments

Topical flea treatments come in a liquid form, and they are applied to cats and dogs, usually between the shoulder blades. It is important to separate the hair and apply the treatment directly to the skin because the treatment needs to absorb into the skin to begin circulating through the bloodstream.

Although this treatment is very successful in killing fleas and ticks, your pets first need to be bitten by a flea or tick for the treatment to take action and work. If you are noticing an abundant amount of fleas on your property, then a topical treatment might not be for you.

Flea Yard Spray

Another treatment people can use, is a flea yard spray not just to get rid of the fleas on their property but also prevent them. A yard spray works differently than a topical treatment in a way that does not involve your pet having to be bitten before the flea is eliminated. The yard treatment will eliminate the flea on contact immediately. Over the counter yard, sprays might work for a day or two, maybe even a week, but it is a spray that you need to continue to stay on top of weekly for its work the way it should.

At Mosquito Squad, we use a product that has a 21-day residual effect that will continue to eliminate fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes for three weeks. Because fleas don’t breed in specific areas, we’ll treat your entire property from the grass on your lawn to the underside of the leaves on the trees. Our goal is to coat your property in our treatment to ensure you’ll have proper coverage to eliminate fleas for weeks.

If you’ve been experiencing an increase in fleas over the summer months, we can help you, and your pets get relief. Call Mosquito Squad of South Central Texas at (830) 254-5176 to get your free quote now!
