Mosquitoes are one of the slowest flying insects. The average mosquito’s top speed is around 1 to 1.5 miles per hour (mph). In comparison, horseflies can fly up to 90 mph!
Mosquitoes are small, flying insects known for their relentless bites and unfortunate role as disease vectors.
Female mosquitoes bite humans and animals to obtain the necessary proteins for egg development. Male mosquitoes don’t bite and instead feed on plant nectar. When a female mosquito bites, she pierces the skin with her proboscis and injects saliva into her victim to prevent blood clotting. This is what causes the itching and swelling around a mosquito bite.
Mosquitoes are notorious for transmitting serious diseases, including malaria, dengue fever, Zika virus, and West Nile virus. These diseases can lead to severe health complications, including encephalitis, meningitis, and microcephaly. West Nile virus is the most reported mosquito-borne disease in the United States.

"We had no mice this summer for the first time Ever, at 2 different properties at Side lake MN We also had less mosquitoes, wasps, ants. We really were anxious to see if it would help with those pesty Asian Beatles this fall. Well there were fewer but we were still noticing them SO I called Mosquito Squad… they explained that they tried to get on a treatment before the first frost & when the frost did not come as predicted & it warmed up again they started hatching again. The same day that I called they sent an agent that afternoon in 2 1/2 hours away, He sprayed again with no charge!! It’s been a few days now & NO SIGN OF ANY MORE BEETLES!!!👍"
