For most Central Illinois homeowners, yes. Outdoor pests like mosquitoes and ticks are seasonal, but mice, spiders, ants, and other household pests are active year-round. Ongoing treatment follows the seasons, switching to indoor pests when the weather is cold.

Rural properties tend to see more ticks, mosquitoes from irrigation and low ground, rodents drawn to grain and outbuildings, and wildlife that brings pests along. Rural properties do, however, face fewer of the pest problems that come from dense urban living.

There are a lot of things you can do to reduce tick bites: use repellents, treat the yard, and remember to check yourself for ticks after spending time outside (just in case).
