F.A.Q.

What precautions should pet owners take before and after mosquito treatments?

Before treatment, bring pets indoors and pick up their bowls, toys, and bedding from the yard. After treatment, keep pets off the treated areas until everything has dried, usually 30 minutes to a couple of hours.

You’re tired of dealing with mosquitoes. No one can blame you for that. But you want to make sure that your pets aren’t accidentally harmed by the treatment you’re having applied to deal with the mosquitoes. That’s just as reasonable.

Pet owners can absolutely keep a treated yard pet-friendly. It only takes a couple of easy steps to do this.

First, make sure pets are out of the yard when treatment is done. Plan to have your dog or cat indoors during the application. At the same time, also walk the yard to gather up anything of theirs that is sitting out like food or water bowls, chew toys, or outdoor beds. That way, none of their belongings are treated directly. If your pet has a favorite patch of yard, just plan to keep them off it for the short drying window. It also helps to let your provider know you have pets, and to point out where they spend time, so the technician can treat accordingly.

Once dry, the yard is back to normal for them. The product binds to the foliage as it dries, and the only window of concern is while it's still wet, so keeping pets off the treated areas until then is all that's needed. That's typically 30 minutes to a couple of hours, longer in cool, humid, or shady conditions, and your technician can tell you what to expect for the day. After that, your pets can go back to normal day-to-day living.
