The Cache Valley Virus (CVV) detected in Nebraska

Posted by Mosquito Squad

October 2, 2025

One of our goals at Mosquito Squad is to be protectors of public health. That means we want to ensure our customers are aware of the pests in their area and the risks that come with those pests.

The Cache Valley Virus (CVV) was recently detected in parts of Nebraska (Adams, Platte, and Lancaster counties). But it’s something everyone should be aware of. CVV is yet another disease spread through mosquitoes. They become infected after biting infected deer and then can carry the disease over to you. Although CVV is rare in humans, it’s not impossible, and you should always be on the lookout for your health.

If you’re bitten by an infected mosquito, CVV can cause fever, fatigue, nausea, and a rash. More severe symptoms can be a stiff neck, confusion, loss of coordination, difficulty speaking, seizures, encephalitis, and meningitis.
