What do you do when you find a tick in your yard? Call Mosquito Squad.
With each of our packages, you get Tick control, because we understand how much damage and pain they can cause and how difficult it is to drive them out once the infestation starts. Which is why we wanted to let you know that prime tick time is back for the fall, but we’re prepared to double down on your protection against ticks as a new generation of immature ticks starts to feed and grow.
Once a tick is found, you can be sure that there are more. Mosquito Squad hopes to get on top of the issue before it starts, treating for ticks at every treatment. If you’re already signed up with us, your regular treatments target the mature ticks. These ticks are large enough to travel through your yard and attack humans and pets. Treating the high-risk areas of your yard, we create a barrier that will keep the pests out.
If you live in areas that connect to the woods or a beaten trail of tall grass, you likely have more ticks in your area than most home owners and there are likely other pests contributing to the ticks in your yard. If left unchecked, their populations can grow quickly. This year, there has been a 30% increase in the total tick population compared to prior years. So if you think you’re seeing more ticks than normal, you’re not wrong. If you’re having large issues with ticks, we also have another treatment option this time of year:
Tick Tubes
Mosquito Squad offers Tick Tubes, a simple once-in-the-spring, once-in-the-fall treatment that targets the immature ticks while they’re still too small to target you and your pets and family.
When ticks are immature, they cling to small rodents, mostly field mice, in order to feed and grow. The Tick Tubes are built to use the field mice's nesting habits as a way to attack the ticks before they grow. The tubes are filled with a treated cotton that the mice will take for their nests, laying in the cotton allows the treatment to settle onto the ticks. Don’t worry! The treatment will not harm the mice; it is simply going to relieve them of the ticks that are feeding off them.
Tick Tubes will be placed around your property, primarily in areas that field mice might travel, around rocks, logs, and crevices. If you have any questions or concerns about the Tick Tubes or want to get them on your schedule, contact our office.
