Professional tick control is highly effective at reducing the ticks in your yard. It won't achieve a permanently tick-free yard, since new ticks keep arriving on wildlife, but it substantially lowers the population and your family's exposure across the season.
Ticks need cool, shaded, humid cover and animal hosts. Yards with a lot of vegetation and wildlife passing through will likely see more ticks than open, sunny, well-maintained ones.
No-see-ums, tiny biting midges, come from moist soil and damp organic matter, so the underlying cause of a no-see-um problem is persistent dampness. This can be caused by soggy ground, poor drainage, mucky low spots, and wet organic debris.
