F.A.Q.

Can I get a mosquito treatment before a backyard event?

Yes, pre-event treatments are a standard one-time service. Treatment happens before your gathering and will have time to work before your event starts.

You have a big event coming up. It could be a graduation party or engagement dinner, or the annual block party that somehow always lives in your yard. Whatever is on the calendar, it’s worth wondering: can mosquito treatment be done in advance? And the answer is yes.

Booking a week or two ahead is wise since summer weekend slots go fast and the schedule needs slack for weather. The treatment itself will usually happen a day or two before the event. A technician will come by to treat the areas where mosquitoes rest during the day such as shaded foliage or shrubs and plantings. By the time the tables are set, the application will be dry and settled and will have had time to start working.

Mosquitoes resting in the foliage at the time of treatment are knocked down right then and there. New arrivals that land over the following hours are also knocked down when they come into contact with treated surfaces. The residual effect of the treatment keeps working for about three weeks.

If you’re looking for something else you can do in addition to treatment, one action that helps a lot is to walk the yard and dump standing water where you find it. This could mean anything from plant saucers to kiddie pools to gutters. Mosquitoes need standing water to lay eggs, so if you take away sources of it, you’ll have fewer mosquitoes around to deal with.

If there's a gathering on your calendar that deserves better than bug spray on the gift table, Mosquito Squad of North Jersey can help. Mosquito Squad times one-time event treatments around your schedule, helping protect the occasion with up to 90% reduction in mosquito activity.
