Your yard should be peaceful… not pest-full! If you’re dealing with any of these common yard pests, Mosquito Squad is here to help.

Ants

Tiny but mighty, ants pose a considerable threat to your yard and peace of mind. Most ant species build a nest or ant hill, the home base of the colony. These mounds can pop up throughout your lawn, ruining the outdoor aesthetic and damaging grass roots. As if that wasn't bad enough, anthills can be home to hundreds, if not hundreds of thousands of ants. With that many mouths to feed, forager ants must leave the nest for nearby food. Foraging could mean gathering seeds and plant matter around your yard or seeing what you've got in your kitchen… feeling antsy yet?

Ticks

A nuisance to people and pets alike, ticks are no fun hanging around your yard. Ticks live in shady, moist areas, including overgrown grass, woodpiles, and forest edges next to your home. Though not all ticks spread diseases, the ones that ticks do can spread life-altering illnesses. Lyme Disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, and Powassan Virus are just a few diseases infected ticks transmit. Even if you don't interact with an infested tick, no one likes the sickening feeling of finding a tick somewhere on you.

Fleas

This one's for the fur babies that also call your yard a home. Fleas are tiny, biting parasites that can take a toll on your pets. Fleas get nutrients from biting and drawing blood, and bites can leave irritating sores prone to infection. In some cases, fleas can transmit diseases such as tapeworms and typhus. As for how they get in your yard, some birds can carry fleas, dropping them off when they visit your feeders or bird baths. Keep your yard free of fleas – your furry friends will thank you!
