Despite our best attempts to make our homes feel cozy and warm, there is usually a time during the winter when it all feels insufficient and a vacation elsewhere is necessary. For a lot of reasons, such an outing can help mood and provide a nice break from the flat gray of the northern winters. So, short beach grasses and shrubs are a classic place where you might encounter a tick. If you sit close enough to a tick, they can briefly crawl over to you, where they can latch onto your skin or become stuck in your beach towel. For this reason, make sure to thoroughly shake out your belongings as you pack up to leave the beach!
