Just in case you weren’t aware, mosquitoes are highly annoying, disease-transmitting nuisances. Whether your hiking in the woods or simply trying to relax on your back patio, you’re going to encounter mosquitoes during the spring and summer here in Worcester. That’s why it’s so incredible to hear that the City of Worcester is partnering with the Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project to offer comprehensive control services and programs throughout the community this summer. This is fabulous news! As the original mosquito control company in the United States, we at Mosquito Squad of Worcester, are thrilled to hear this news.

The impetus behind the move is to reduce the likelihood of encountering mosquitoes carrying West Nile virus. There will be treatments centering on catch basins, where mosquitoes like to breed (especially the types of mosquitoes that carry and transmit West Nile). Furthermore, the city will begin misting later in the middle of summer. This is a proactive approach that’s very similar to how we operate at Mosquito Squad.

While, according to the article, there isn’t a strong amount of evidence to think the mosquito population will be extremely high, the tick population is expected to be very high. Most products that work on mosquitoes will work on ticks; however, that’s not always the case. Furthermore, while mosquitoes are known to transmit diseases, they aren’t nearly as well-known for disease transmission as the deer tick. Not to worry, Mosquito Squad of Worcester can reduce the tick population in your yard by up to 90%.

If you’re looking for information on how to best tick-proof your yard, call the local experts at Mosquito Squad of Worcester. Our barrier application, applied every 21 days, will knock down existing ticks and mosquitoes and keep new ones from surviving in your yard.
