Is It Too Late to Spray for Spiders?

March 18, 2024

Some sources explain that you do not need to spray for spiders in the fall, because spiders generally hatch in the springtime.

This could be a true statement, depending on where you live. For instance, the Northeastern United States has more defined seasons than we have in El Paso. Due to our warmer climate, it is much more difficult to declare that only one time of year is ideal for spider control. Spiders can be plentiful and very active in El Paso just about any time of year. Here, we will discuss the ideal time to spray for spiders in El Paso – or anywhere!

If you have spiders, it is never too late to spray for them.

No matter the season on your calendar, if you have an influx of spiders around or inside your home, it is never too late to hire a spider control team. What’s more, if you are reading this in the fall season you should know: Spider activity is high in the spring and summer after their hatching season. But spider activity is high in the fall too because that is when they mate.

Do spiders hibernate in the winter in El Paso?

Spiders are cold-blooded and highly climate adaptable. After fall mating season, they will find a safe place to lay their eggs outdoors, where they can survive the winter. Adult spiders do not hibernate like bears. As a matter of fact, some species can survive cold weather. Those which are not adapted to survive cold weather, will look for a safe space where they can enter an inactive state called diapause. More than hibernation, when in diapause, spiders are inactive and do not continue their development into their next life stage. When warm weather conditions return, they will become active once more.
