Lyme disease risk areas

I came across this article on a three year study by the Yale School of Public Health on the expanding at risk areas for Lyme disease.  The study shows the usual suspects in areas of north eastern United States, however it also found that the emerging risk or transitional at risk areas are on the rise. They created a cool color coded map showing the affected ares. Check it out here.

Their hope is to inform the public so precautions can be taken which will improve prevention, diagnosis and treatment  of the disease.

Information collected by the Center’s for Disease Control and Prevention reflect that cases have been on the rise in Wisconsin.  Confirmed cases went from 631 in 2000 to 2505 in 2010.
