Tampa Bay: Among the Top 10 Cities at Risk for Increased Mosquito and Tick Activity

The Professional Pest Management Alliance, released its new summer Vector Sectors list of the top 10 U.S. cities that are at greater risk for increased pest pressure from vector pests, focusing predominantly on tick and mosquito activity.

Tampa, FL was identified as 1 of the 10 U.S. cities at greater risk due to record-setting heat in May coupled with significantly above-average rainfall in May, June and July which allowed mosquito populations to get a jump start on activity. In addition, with late-season heat expected for the remainder of summer, conditions are ripe for mosquitoes to continue to multiply quickly.
