How Does Our Solution Work?

What do we use when we are treating your yard and does it really work? These are 2 of the most common questions we get asked. We know how important it is to have knowledge on what is being applied to your yard and to understand how it works, as well as the expected outcome and effectiveness.

Barrier Treatments

Our barrier treatments are made using a synthetic derivative from the Chrysanthemum plant. Mosquito Squad has done the research and development to create an effective and proven barrier treatment product that will protect against mosquitoes and ticks while being harmless to plants and pollinators. We use a time-release, microencapsulated product, allowing it to last for up to 21 days, despite any rain that may come through after it’s applied. This “staying power” is one of the many things that sets us apart from some others.

Why does it work?

Once a female mosquito has digested a host’s blood, she can lay over 250 eggs and, depending on the species, she can seek subsequent blood meals several times per season.

Due to the mosquitoes' ability to breed very quickly, our barrier treatment will be reapplied once every 2-3 weeks to provide the best protection for your family. When treating your yard, we will focus on the standing vegetation within and around the perimeter of your property, shady areas, underneath decks, and will also treat or eliminate any standing water to target larvae and prevent breeding.

This creates an “invisible barrier” of protection around your yard and guarantees an 85-90% reduction in mosquitoes. Since mosquitoes are very weak fliers and they have to land frequently to rest, they will eventually land on an area that has been treated and will come into contact with our product. That is what makes our process so effective! Our product not only reduces the mosquito population but also kills 100% of adult ticks on contact.

Besides being an annoyance, mosquitoes and ticks also carry diseases that can be harmful to you, your family, and your pets. The chance of being exposed to these diseases is reduced with every application, which is one of the major advantages of our barrier treatment program. But that’s not all!
