Mosquito Squad of the North Shore, along with the entire Mosquito Squad organization supports the Malaria No More campaign. In case you aren’t familiar with the good things Malaria No More is doing globally to eradicate Malaria, and the death and suffering caused by the disease, we want to tell you all about it, so you can spread the news.

While Malaria was eradicated in the United States more than 50 years ago, it continues to thrive in countries like Africa where it takes the life of an innocent child every minute. Over 650,000 people worldwide die every year from Malaria, and 86% of those deaths occur in children. Malaria is preventable and treatable, and with the simplicity of having a $10 bed net to sleep under each night, up to two children can be spared from the deadly disease.

Long-lasting insecticide treated bed nets (LLINs) are the fastest way to prevent malaria infection because they create a protective barrier against mosquitoes at night which is when the vast majority of transmissions occur. Often times the bed nets are large enough to accommodate more than one person, especially children. A treated net dramatically minimizes mosquito activity throughout the room of where the treated net is being used providing a veil of protection for those within the room as well.

Malaria No More is also educating those in Malaria ravaged countries about how Malaria is contracted and how to protect against mosquitoes. They also stress the importance of early diagnosis and treatment of the disease in order to save lives in their community.

91% of all Malaria deaths occur in Africa. 5,000,000 of Malaria’s victim are young children that live in Africa. The Malaria No More campaign strives to heighten awareness of the disease worldwide and deliver life-saving solutions to countries hardest hit by the disease. Their campaign has helped reduce Malaria fatalities in nine African countries by more than 50% by utilizing powerful tools such as mosquito nets and effective medicine. To date, the organization has distributed more that 2.6 million mosquito nets in 13 African countries to help halt the spread of disease.

As North America’s largest and most trusted mosquito elimination and tick control company, Mosquito Squad recently committed more than $50,000 to help Malaria No More achieve its goal of ending Malaria deaths in Africa. Local franchises of Mosquito Squad are wholeheartedly supporting the efforts too, through a variety of grassroots activities. One way in which you can make a difference is to make a donation towards the mosquito net effort.

Mosquito Squad of the North Shore supports the Malaria No More efforts by donating mosquito nets and revenue to help further the success of the campaign. Malaria kills more children in Africa than any other single disease—one child every 45 seconds. If you are considering signing up for our treatment package, please ask us to donate a mosquito net in your name to a family in Africa. You can help save lives and make a difference!
