Precautionary Statements from Product Labels

We use various pyrethroids and larvacides registered with the EPA when we treat for mosquitoes, ticks, stink bugs, and other insects found around the foundation of a home. The precautionary statements on the labels relating to Hazards to Humans and Domestic Animals are set forth below. *The MSDS sheets do not mention any long-term or chronic exposure issues with these products. Almost all the risk is to the applicator who is applying the product.* For customers who request it, we have an natural option made of essential oils. All of our products are labeled for use indoors and in food handling areas. Though we do not treat in those areas.

Ingredient 1:

*Hazards to Humans and Domestic Animals*

CAUTION. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, or using the toilet. Wear long-sleeved shirt and long pants, socks, and shoes.

*ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS*
This product is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates, oysters, and shrimp. DO NOT apply when weather conditions favor drift from treated areas. Drift and runoff from treated areas may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in neighboring areas.

This product is highly toxic to bees exposed to direct treatment or residues on blooming crops or weeds. DO NOT apply this product or allow it to drift to blooming crops if bees are foraging in the treatment area.

To protect the environment, DO NOT allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters, or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hours will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. Rinsing application equipment over the treated area will help avoid runoff to water bodies or drainage system

Ingredient 2:

*CAUTION:* Harmful if absorbed through skin. Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin or clothing. Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.

*ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS*
This product is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Remove from premises or tightly cover fish tanks and disconnect aerators when applying indoors where such containers are present. Do not apply when weather conditions favor drift from treated areas. Drift and runoff from treated areas may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in neighboring areas. To protect the environment, do not allow pesticide to enter or run off into storm drains, drainage ditches, gutters or surface waters. Applying this product in calm weather when rain is not predicted for the next 24 hr will help to ensure that wind or rain does not blow or wash pesticide off the treatment area. Causes moderate eye irritation. Harmful if absorbed through skin. Avoid contact with eyes or skin. Due to the size and abrasiveness of the granule, use protective eyewear and clothing to minimize exposure during loading and handling. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling.

*ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS*
Do not contaminate water when disposing of rinsate or equipment washwaters.

Insect Growth Regulator:

PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS
*HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS*

*CAUTION*
Causes moderate eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling and before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet. Do not induce vomiting because of aspiration pneumonia hazard. Obtain medical attention if irritation persists. Avoid contamination of food or feedstuffs.

Cover or remove all food and food processing surfaces. Thoroughly wash all food processing surfaces before reuse. After misting in bakeries, meat packing plants, food processing plants, etc., all benches, shelving, equipment, etc. where exposed food will be handled must be washed with an effective compound followed by a potable water rinse to remove all traces of contamination. Food processing operations do not have to be stopped while applying a wet mist with care and in accordance with the directions and cautions above in those establishments which do NOT operate under Federal meat, poultry, shell egg grading and egg products inspection program.

*ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS*
This product is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water or to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water by cleaning of equipment or disposal of equipment washwaters.

Natural Product made with essential oils:

PRECAUTIONARY STATEMENTS

Caution – May cause eye and skin irritation. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and clothing.

*PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE):*
Persons handling concentrate are recommended to wear:

  • Protective eyewear
  • Chemical resistant gloves made of neoprene, nitrile or natural rubber.

User Safety Recommendations : User should wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, or using the toilet. Remove clothing immediately if the product gets inside. Wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing. Remove PPE after handling this product. Wash the outside of the gloves before removing.

*PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL HAZARDS*
Do not use, pour, spill or store near heat or open flame. Store only in original container.

Surfactant (We generally do not use a surfactant):

Avoid breathing mist mist. Harmful if swallowed, inhaled or absorbed through skin. May cause irritation. Avoid contact with eyes. See First Aid and Storage and Disposal sections for additional cautions.

Synergist (We rarely if ever would use this product as it usually is not required):

*CAUTION* Harmful if swallowed, inhaled, or absorbed through skin. Causes eye irritation. Avoid contact with skin, eyes, or clothing. Avoid breathing vapor or mist mist. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.

*PERSONAL PROTECTECTIVE EQUIPMENT (PPE)*
Some materials that are chemical-resistant to this product are: Mixers, loaders, applicators and other handlers must wear the following: long-sleeved shirt and long pants; chemical-resistant gloves such as Barrier Laminate, Neoprene Rubber, Nitrile Rubber, or Viton; and shoes plus socks.

In addition to the above PPE, mixers and loaders supporting aerial applications to forests and/or applicators using a high pressure handwand in an enclosed area must wear at least a NIOSH-approved respirator with:

  • a dust/mist filter with MSHA/NIOSH approval number prefix TC-21C; or any N, R, P, or HE filter.

In addition to the above PPE, applicators using hand held foggers in an enclosed area must wear a half-face, full-face, or hood-style NIOSH-approved respirator with:

  • a dust/mist filtering cartridge (MSHA/NIOSH approval number prefix TC-21C)
  • a canister approved for pesticides (MSHA/NIOSH approval number prefix TC-14G)
  • a cartridge or canister with any N, R, P or HE filter.
  • See engineering controls for additional requirements.

User safety requirements:

Follow manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning/maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry. Discard clothing and other absorbent material that have been drenched or heavily contaminated with the product’s concentrate. Do not reuse them.

Engineering controls:

Pilots must use an enclosed cockpit that meets the requirements listed in the Worker Protection Standard (WPS) for agricultural pesticides [40 CFR 170.240(d)(6)]. Human flagging is prohibited. Flagging to support aerial application is limited to use of the Global Positioning System (GPS) or mechanical flaggers.

*USER SAFETY RECOMMENDATIONS - The user should:

  • Wash hands with plenty of soap and water before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco, or using the toilet.
  • Remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing.
  • Remove PPE immediately after handling this product. Wash the outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing.

*ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARDS*

This product is toxic to aquatic organisms, including fish and invertebrates. Drift and runoff may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in water adjacent to treated areas. This product may contaminate water through runoff. This product has a potential for runoff for several weeks after application. Poorly draining soils and soils with shallow water tables are more prone to produce runoff that contains this product.

Do not apply directly to water, to areas where surface water is present or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment wash-waters or rinsate.

Do not discharge effluent containing this product into lakes, streams, ponds, estuaries, oceans, or other water unless in accordance with the requirements of a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) permit and the permitting authority has been notified in writing prior to discharge. Do not discharge effluent containing this product into sewer systems without previously notifying the local sewage treatment plant authority. For guidance, contact your State Water Board or Regional Office of the EPA.
