Why do Mosquitoes Bite You Multiple Times?

In the New York Times’ Science section, a recent Q & A brought up an interesting topic:

Q. When you wake up with several mosquito bites and find one very bloated mosquito in the room, why has it bitten you so many times in a short period?

The answer? There are actually a few possibilities that could make sense in this situation.

If you are tossing and turning in bed, interrupting the mosquito’s bites, it has to bite you over and over to get the amount of blood it needs.

Another option is that some people’s blood isn’t as easily thinned by the anticoagulant in the mosquito’s saliva. Because of that, the mosquito tries again and again to get a more satisfying bite.
